Understanding the technology
Next-generation HIFU lifting
LinearZ uses High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) to deliver focused ultrasound energy beneath the skin. With both Linear and Dot modes, it allows your dermatologist to tailor the delivery pattern to each treatment area.
Different cartridges focus energy at selected depths to target skin, subcutaneous fat or fascial layers, including the SMAS (Superficial Musculoaponeurotic System), where appropriate. The aim is to support firmer skin and improve the appearance of laxity without surgery.
At Glassy Skin Clinic, your Korean board-certified dermatologist selects the cartridge, treatment depth and energy settings individually for your anatomy, skin condition and comfort.
The device and the plan
Two modes. Selected depths.

Focused ultrasound delivers energy beneath the surface. LinearZ offers Linear and Dot delivery patterns, with cartridge-dependent depth options.
Separated focal points
Energy delivered along a line
Glassy uses both modes and all four face/body cartridge families. The mode, available depth, energy and coverage are selected separately for each area.
See Linear and Dot delivery
See the selected depths in motion

BASIC, ESSENTIAL and CORE are selected for facial skin, fat and fascial-layer planning. CONTOUR is selected for body-fat treatment planning. The appropriate cartridge and depth are assessed individually.

When results develop
Early tightening
Some people notice an early tightening sensation or a firmer appearance. This is not the final result, and immediate change varies.
Gradual change
Changes in firmness and contour may develop gradually as tissue responds and collagen remodels. Review your response over about 2–3 months; the degree and timing of improvement vary.
Glassy generally recommends at least 3 sessions, 4–8 weeks apart. Maintenance may be considered every 6–12 months, adjusted to your response, goals and clinical assessment.
LinearZ at Glassy
Clinical evidence for LinearZ
A 2026 case series reported contour changes assessed at 4 and 12 weeks; its small, uncontrolled design and short follow-up limit what it can tell us about lasting benefit. Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Global Open, 2026 · Dual-mode LinearZ case series.
Research using LinearZ has examined collagen and elastin in laboratory and animal models; this does not predict your personal result or how long it will last. Cells, 2023 · HIFU, collagen and elastin in experimental models.
When comparing photographs, check the dates, session count and every treatment performed. A combination case cannot show what LinearZ alone contributed.

Your treatment, step by step
Consultation and assessment
Glassy’s board-certified dermatologists and international coordinators review your concerns, skin type, fat distribution, facial volume and previous treatments. Together, you agree the treatment areas, shot count, expected benefits, limitations and quote.
Preparation and personalised numbing
The treatment area is cleansed and prepared. For face treatment, numbing cream is optional. Body treatment does not require numbing cream in Glassy’s protocol. If selected, application time may be 20–40 or 40–60 minutes, depending on skin type, a history of numbing-cream allergy and expected discomfort. A suspected allergy requires assessment before any cream is used.
Glassy offers preparation in a private room. A professional aesthetician trained by dermatologists applies the cream using a carefully tailored technique, with the aim of achieving effective numbing and a more comfortable treatment. Your response is checked individually; no sedation is used.
Targeted LinearZ treatment
Ultrasound gel is applied. Your dermatologist selects Linear or Dot mode, cartridge, depth and energy for each area, accounting for skin type, fat volume and sensitivity. Areas with hollowness are assessed separately from areas with excess fullness.
Ultrasound treatment takes about 15 minutes. Treatment plus soothing care and a mask takes about 30 minutes without numbing preparation; consultation and examination are additional. Body-treatment timing is confirmed separately.
Soothing care and follow-up
Face options include soothing care and a soothing mask in a private skincare room. Your team explains aftercare, what reactions to watch for and how to contact the clinic. Review visits and further sessions are tailored to your response.

Who LinearZ is for
- Early facial sagging or loss of firmness
- A softer jawline or reduced cheek definition
- Double-chin or localised fullness beneath the chin, after assessment
- People considering a non-surgical lifting approach
- People seeking improvement in skin firmness and elasticity
A thin face or hollow cheeks?
Lost volume needs a different assessment from laxity or excess fullness. Tell your dermatologist if your cheeks are already hollow or became hollow after a previous treatment. Some areas may need a different approach or no ultrasound treatment.
Discuss Sofwave as another option; it is not automatically suitable for every thin face.

| Item | HIFU (LinearZ) | Sofwave | RF lifting (TORR) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Energy | High-intensity focused ultrasound · Linear and Dot modes | Ultrasound · SUPERB™ parallel beams | Radiofrequency · delivery varies by device |
| Selected depth | Cartridge-dependent: facial options 1.5–6.0 mm; body options 9–13 mm | Mid-dermis, approximately 1.5 mm | Depth and heating pattern depend on the device and applicator |
| Heat delivery | Focused energy delivered as dots or lines | Multiple ultrasound beams at a selected dermal depth | Broader tissue heating; device-dependent |
| Treatment focus | Selected laxity and contour concerns, with area-specific planning | Skin laxity and wrinkles | Skin tightening and other device-specific goals |
| Facial fat and hollowness | Some settings can target subcutaneous tissue; hollow areas need a separate plan | Targets the mid-dermis rather than fat; suitability still requires assessment | Potential effects on fat vary by device, settings and area |
| Treatment time | Glassy: about 15 min treatment; about 30 min with soothing care and mask; consultation extra | Manufacturer overview: about 30–45 min; coverage varies | Confirmed individually for the selected device and coverage |
Nominal device depths do not map to the same tissue layer in every person. Intended targets do not guarantee preservation of facial volume or establish that one device is better. Your dermatologist assesses thin or hollow areas individually.

Aftercare
- Moisturise: keep the treated skin comfortably hydrated with gentle skincare; follow the instructions for your actual session.
- Sun protection: use sunscreen and sensible sun protection after treatment.
- Avoid high heat for 1 week: avoid saunas, steam rooms and other high-temperature environments.
- Expected reactions: redness generally settles the same day. Occasionally, swelling may last 1–3 days. Tenderness or bruising may also occur; recovery varies.
- Know when to ask for help: contact a medical professional about worsening pain, blistering, new weakness or persistent altered sensation. Severe or rapidly worsening symptoms need urgent local assessment.
Before treatment
Tell your dermatologist about medicines, pregnancy or breastfeeding, active skin problems, implants, metal, fillers, threads and recent procedures. Do not stop prescribed medicines on your own. Suitability and any need to postpone treatment are assessed individually.
The product or procedure, location and timing of previous fillers, wrinkle injections or threads need individual review before further energy treatment is planned.

LinearZ or Sofwave?
Both use ultrasound, but their delivery methods and tissue targets differ. Discuss skin laxity, facial volume and the areas where volume should be preserved before choosing.
Explore Sofwave →
LinearZ or PTing microwave lifting?
LinearZ uses focused ultrasound. PTing uses microwave energy, so the technology, applicator and treatment plan differ. Your dermatologist assesses whether either approach, or a combination, suits your skin and contour goals.

LinearZ or radiofrequency lifting?
Focused ultrasound uses sound energy, while radiofrequency devices use electrical energy to heat tissue. The specific device, treatment area and intended role matter. At Glassy, discuss TORR as part of an individually planned approach.

Different areas, different settings
Fullness beneath the chin
Assess thickness and the contour goal before selecting a mode, cartridge, depth and energy.
Hollow lateral cheeks
Review existing volume loss separately. A contour-reduction plan beneath the chin is not automatically used on the cheeks.
Skin type, pain sensitivity and tissue thickness also shape the plan. Some areas may need a different approach or no ultrasound treatment.
GLT™ Tri-Energy Triple Lifting combines LinearZ with TORR radiofrequency and PTing microwave care. Our aim is to balance the intended effect and comfort; a combination is selected for its role in your plan.

LinearZ FAQ
What is LinearZ, and is it a laser?
LinearZ is a focused-ultrasound device with Linear and Dot delivery modes; it uses sound energy rather than laser light.
Who might consider LinearZ?
It may be discussed for selected laxity and contour concerns after a dermatologist examines skin, facial volume and treatment history.
What if my face is thin or my cheeks already look hollow?
Tell your dermatologist about hollowing so the assessment can distinguish lost volume from laxity before a heat-based treatment is considered.
How are Linear and Dot modes different?
Glassy uses both Dot and Linear modes, selecting the cartridge, available depth and energy separately for each area and treatment goal.
How many shots will I need?
Shot count depends on the area, mode and planned coverage, so the number alone does not describe the treatment.
How long should I allow for the appointment?
Ultrasound treatment takes about 15 minutes, or about 30 minutes with soothing care and a mask, excluding consultation and individually selected numbing preparation of 20–40 or 40–60 minutes. Body timing is confirmed separately.
Does LinearZ hurt, and can I have numbing cream?
In Glassy’s face-treatment experience, discomfort is about 2–3/10 with numbing cream and 4–5/10 without. Sensation varies by area, fat volume and sensitivity; tell the team about any previous numbing-cream allergy.
When should I assess results, and how many sessions are needed?
Some people notice early tightening; gradual change may develop over 2–3 months. Glassy generally recommends at least 3 sessions 4–8 weeks apart, with maintenance considered every 6–12 months according to response.
How much does LinearZ cost, and what is included?
Face options are ₩390,000 / ₩490,000 / ₩590,000 for 300 / 400 / 500 shots; body is ₩990,000 for 1,000 shots, all excluding 10% VAT. Face includes soothing care and a mask; body includes soothing ointment application.
What aftercare will I need?
Moisturise, use sun protection and avoid saunas and high-temperature environments for 1 week. Follow any additional instructions for your actual treatment.
Is there downtime, and what reactions can occur?
Redness generally settles the same day; occasionally swelling may last 1–3 days. Tenderness or bruising can occur, and recovery varies.
What should I tell the doctor before treatment?
Share medical conditions, medicines, pregnancy or breastfeeding, skin problems, implants and previous treatments so your dermatologist can check suitability.
Can I have LinearZ after fillers, wrinkle injections or threads?
The product or procedure, location and timing need individual review before further energy treatment is planned.
Can I plan treatment during a short visit to Seoul?
Share your travel dates and important events so the team can discuss an appointment and follow-up plan without assuming one visit will meet every goal.
How does numbing differ for face and body treatment?
For face treatment, numbing cream is optional and individually planned. Glassy does not use numbing cream for body treatment, which is generally less painful in our clinic’s experience; body care includes soothing ointment rather than the face-care session and mask.
Will I be sedated or asleep?
Glassy does not use sedation for LinearZ; you remain awake and can tell your dermatologist how the treatment feels.
Does Glassy use face and body cartridges?
Yes, Glassy uses BASIC, ESSENTIAL, CORE and CONTOUR cartridges, selecting face or body coverage and suitable depths after assessment.
Compare treatments & combination care
How does it differ from thread lifting?
Ultrasound uses thermal energy while threads provide physical support, so their suitability, risks and recovery require different discussions.
Is LinearZ better than Ultherapy?
LinearZ offers Dot and Linear modes, while Ultherapy provides real-time ultrasound imaging; the sources reviewed do not establish that LinearZ gives universally better results.
How does LinearZ compare with Sofwave?
Both use ultrasound, but their delivery methods and intended tissue targets differ, so the choice starts with your main concern and anatomy.
How does LinearZ compare with PTing microwave lifting?
LinearZ uses focused ultrasound, while PTing uses microwave energy. Their roles depend on your skin, anatomy and treatment goals.
Explore treatment →How does LinearZ compare with radiofrequency lifting?
LinearZ delivers focused ultrasound while radiofrequency devices use electrical energy to heat tissue, and the appropriate option depends on the device and your concern.
Do I need a combination such as GLT™ Tri-Energy Triple Lifting?
GLT™ Triple Lifting combines LinearZ, TORR and PTing, with each component selected for your anatomy, goals and comfort.
