Juvelook and Juvelook Volume don't come with a daily home-massage routine like Sculptra's "5-5-5" rule (5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 days). Vaim's official UK partner, FILLMED, recommends a single firm 1–2 minute massage right after injection to disperse the product. At our clinic, right after Juvelook Volume, a nurse trained by our dermatologists shows you how to massage the area firmly for 1–2 minutes, and your dermatologist checks once more that you're doing it correctly; for skin-layer Juvelook, massage is optional.

Do you need to massage after Juvelook?

Not in the way you may have heard about Sculptra. Juvelook and Juvelook Volume don't come with a daily home-massage routine. Vaim, the Korean manufacturer, doesn't list a massage routine on its official product pages. [1] Its official UK and Ireland partner, FILLMED, recommends one step in its procedure tips: a firm massage of the treated area for 1–2 minutes right after injection, "to disperse the product." [2]

Aftercare is product-specific: Ask your clinician; Follow given guidance; Report concerns. Do not apply another product's massage rule.
Do not apply another product's massage rule.

That's a single, short massage, usually done at the clinic — not a routine you repeat at home for days.

Is massage different for Juvelook and Juvelook Volume?

Yes, in practice. The two products go into different layers and are used in different amounts.

  • Juvelook (skin-layer products: Juvelook i, Juvelook Skin, Juvelook) is placed in the dermis [5] in tiny amounts spread across the whole face. At our clinic, it is often delivered with a multi-needle injector (how we deliver Juvelook), and because it is already spread thinly, massage is optional.
  • Juvelook Volume (sold as Lenisna in some countries) [7] is placed deeper, in the lower dermis and fat layer, [5] in larger amounts per area to restore volume. At our clinic, we recommend the short massage right after treatment so the product settles evenly.

How do you massage after Juvelook Volume?

  1. Right after treatment, a nurse trained by our dermatologists shows you how to massage the area firmly for 1–2 minutes, and your dermatologist checks once more that you're doing it correctly. This follows FILLMED's recommendation of a 1–2 minute massage to spread the product. [2]
  2. Use clean fingertips and press in small circles over the treated area. It should feel firm but not painful.
  3. There's no daily home routine. Repeated hard rubbing at home isn't needed and can make swelling or bruising worse.
  4. Skip salon and spa facial massages for at least 2 weeks. After any treatment, we advise avoiding facial massage at other salons or spas, and face rollers or massage devices, for at least 2 weeks. Pressure and friction can temporarily disrupt the skin barrier while your skin recovers.

Juvelook Volume vs Sculptra aftercare: why there's no 5-5-5 rule

Sculptra's official FAQ tells patients to "massage the injected area for 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 days in a row." [3] That's 25 minutes of massage a day for five days — about two hours in total. This is often called the 5-5-5 rule, and it is commonly described as a way to help the poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) particles spread evenly and reduce the risk of nodules. [4] We don't offer Sculptra at our clinic, but because many patients ask about it, here is how the aftercare compares:

Juvelook / Juvelook Volume Sculptra
Main ingredient PDLLA (poly-D,L-lactic acid) PLLA (poly-L-lactic acid)
Carrier Non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid Carboxymethylcellulose and mannitol, reconstituted with sterile water
Manufacturer / partner massage advice One firm 1–2 min massage right after injection (Vaim's UK partner) 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 days (official FAQ)
Daily home massage None specified by Vaim or its UK partner Yes, for 5 days
Available at our clinic Yes No

Sources: [2], [3], [5], [6]

Why the difference? Each manufacturer writes aftercare for its own product, based on how that product is made and how it behaves in the skin. According to Vaim, Juvelook's hyaluronic acid carrier adds early hydration and helps prevent needle clogging. [5] The two sets of instructions reflect different products, not a ranking. For a fuller ingredient comparison, see Juvelook Volume vs Sculptra: PDLLA vs PLLA.

Does skipping massage cause lumps?

A lump (nodule) after Juvelook is uncommon. The most important steps to prevent one happen before and during treatment: correct preparation, thorough mixing, the right layer and even placement. [8] Massage right after treatment is one more step, not the only one. Guidance differs between products: an expert consensus on another PDLLA product considers post-treatment massage not essential but recommends it for the first 3 to 5 days. [8] Your doctor will tell you what applies to your treatment.

If you feel a firm bump that doesn't settle within a few weeks, contact your clinic rather than massaging it hard yourself. At our clinic, if a nodule is suspected, our dermatologists treat it with sterile saline, RF microneedling to soften the particles, and firm, controlled massage. Causes, treatment and warning signs are covered in Juvelook lumps and nodules.

Aftercare on a short trip

If you're fitting treatment around work, meetings or a flight home, aftercare matters:

  • No massage schedule. You won't need to set five reminders a day for five days.
  • One step, done at the clinic. The short massage after Juvelook Volume happens in the treatment room before you leave.
  • Makeup and work. In our clinic's experience, most patients can wear makeup right after treatment and go back to work the same day, thanks to our layered GLT™ technique (comfort and pain control). Some swelling is still possible. After Juvelook Volume (GLT™ Collagen Volume Lifting), swelling lasts 3–7 days on average; in some people it can last 10–14 days. In our clinic's experience this is part of the normal response as your skin starts building collagen. Bruising is uncommon, and if it happens, it usually clears within about 2 weeks.
  • We check in. The day after your treatment, our team contacts you to ask about any discomfort (our "Happy Call"). If anything worries you after you fly home, you can send us a photo via WhatsApp or Instagram (planning your visit).

How we do it at Glassy Skin Clinic

  • Careful preparation. At our clinic, we hydrate Juvelook with saline and add a local anesthetic for comfort. It's prepared in three mixing steps: vortex, a second vortex right before treatment, and syringe-to-syringe mixing (how we prepare Juvelook).
  • Board-certified dermatologists inject every treatment, using GLT™ (Gentle Layered Treatment) to place product in thin layers rather than in one spot.
  • The massage, shown in person. After Juvelook Volume, a nurse trained by our dermatologists shows you the firm 1–2 minute massage before you leave, your dermatologist checks once more that you're doing it correctly, and we explain what to watch for over the following weeks.
  • We explain the possibility of nodules and what to do about them before every treatment.

Who should not get Juvelook?

Juvelook isn't suitable for everyone — for example, during pregnancy or with an active infection or inflammation in the treatment area. [8] See who should not have Juvelook, and tell your doctor about any fillers you've had and any past reactions.

Your questions

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the 5-5-5 rule, and do I need it after Juvelook?

The 5-5-5 rule is Sculptra's official aftercare: massage the treated area for 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 days in a row. Juvelook and Juvelook Volume have no daily home-massage routine. Vaim's UK partner recommends one firm 1–2 minute massage right after injection.

Should I massage after Juvelook Volume?

Yes, once. Right after treatment, a nurse trained by our dermatologists shows you how to massage the area firmly for 1–2 minutes, and your dermatologist checks once more that you're doing it correctly. After that, you don't need a daily massage routine unless your doctor advises it. If you feel a firm bump that doesn't settle within a few weeks, contact your clinic rather than rubbing it hard.

Why are Juvelook and Sculptra aftercare instructions different?

Each manufacturer writes aftercare for its own product, based on how that product is made and how it behaves in the skin. Vaim says Juvelook's hyaluronic acid carrier adds early hydration and helps prevent needle clogging, and neither Vaim nor its UK partner gives a daily massage routine. Your doctor will tell you what applies to your treatment.

Can I get a facial massage or use a face roller after Juvelook?

After any treatment, avoid facial massage at other salons or spas, and face rollers or massage devices, for at least 2 weeks. Pressure and friction can temporarily disrupt the skin barrier while your skin recovers. This is our clinic's advice; your doctor may give you specific instructions for your treatment.

Do you offer Sculptra?

No. We don't offer Sculptra at Glassy Skin Clinic. For collagen-based volume restoration we use Juvelook Volume, delivered as GLT™ Collagen Volume Lifting.
