Can You Get Juvelook Volume If You've Had Hyaluronic Acid Filler?
Dr. Judy Hong Jin Joo, MD · Founder & Medical Director · Board-certified dermatologist (Korea)

Skin-layer Juvelook (GLT™ Collagen Healer with Juvelook) can be used even where you've had hyaluronic acid (HA) filler. Juvelook Volume is different: it goes into the upper fat layer, where HA filler may still sit, so at our clinic we don't treat an area with Juvelook Volume while filler remains there. If you've had filler at any time and none remains on palpation or ultrasound, we treat only after you sign a consent that swelling may last longer than usual. If your filler was dissolved, we wait at least 6 months; please tell us your filler history before you book.

Can you get Juvelook Volume after hyaluronic acid filler?
01It depends on where the filler is and whether any of it remains. Skin-layer Juvelook can be used even where you've had hyaluronic acid (HA) filler. Juvelook Volume goes deeper, into the same layer where HA filler may sit, so at our clinic we don't place it in an area where filler still remains.
If your filler has already gone, or was dissolved, you may still be able to have it. The rules we follow are below.
Why filler history matters for Juvelook Volume
02Juvelook Volume (sold as Lenisna in some markets) is a collagen stimulator that restores lost volume in areas like the under-eye, mid-cheek and temples. At our clinic, we place it in the upper fat layer just under the skin with a blunt cannula (GLT™ Collagen Volume Lifting). That is also where HA filler is often placed.
HA filler can stay in the tissue much longer than many people expect. In an MRI review of 33 patients with mid-face HA filler, filler was still visible in every patient at least 2 years after injection, and in one patient up to 15 years later. [1] So filler you had "years ago" may still be there.
When Juvelook Volume meets filler that remains in the same layer, unexpected reactions can occur. In our clinic's experience, swelling after Juvelook Volume usually settles within 3 to 7 days. Where filler remains, that swelling can last 1 to 3 months or more.
An expert consensus on PDLLA (the collagen-stimulating particle in Juvelook) lists fillers the body doesn't break down, placed in the same location and plane, as a reason not to treat. [2] HA filler is not on that list, so clinics set their own rules. Ours are based on the prolonged swelling described above.
Many patients don't remember exactly where or how much filler they had. High-frequency ultrasound can locate fillers around the eyes and help tell different filler types apart. [3] At our clinic, we check whether filler remains by palpation (feeling the area) or ultrasound.
Juvelook (skin layer) vs Juvelook Volume after filler
03| Juvelook | Juvelook Volume | |
|---|---|---|
| Program at our clinic | GLT™ Collagen Healer with Juvelook | GLT™ Collagen Volume Lifting with Juvelook Volume |
| Layer | Skin layer, very shallow | Upper fat layer under the skin |
| If you've had HA filler there | Can be used | Depends on whether filler remains (see our rules) |
Skin-layer Juvelook improves texture, fine lines and dryness (GLT™ Collagen Healer). Juvelook Volume restores lost volume. For more on the difference, see Juvelook vs Juvelook Volume.
Our clinic's rules
04At our clinic, Dr. Judy (Hong Jin Joo) and our board-certified dermatologists follow these rules:
| Your situation | What we do |
|---|---|
| HA filler in the area, and you want skin-layer Juvelook | We can proceed with GLT™ Collagen Healer with Juvelook |
| HA filler still remains in the area (whenever it was done) | We don't treat that area with Juvelook Volume |
| Filler done at any time (within the past year, 1–5 years ago, or longer), and none seems to remain | We check by palpation or ultrasound; if none remains, we treat only after you sign a consent that, because of the past filler, swelling may last 2–4 weeks or more longer than usual |
| Filler was dissolved | We wait at least 6 months after dissolving before Juvelook Volume |
| Not sure what you had | Tell us what you remember; your dermatologist checks the area by palpation or ultrasound at consultation |
These rules apply to the specific area with filler. Other areas without filler can be planned as usual. We use our GLT™ (Gentle Layered Treatment) approach, spreading product in thin layers with a blunt cannula.
Message us on WhatsApp or Instagram DM (@glassyskinclinic_global) with your filler history, and we'll tell you what may be possible before you plan your trip.
If you've had filler dissolved
05HA filler can be dissolved with hyaluronidase, an enzyme that breaks down hyaluronic acid. [4] If you've had filler dissolved, at our clinic we wait at least 6 months after dissolving before placing Juvelook Volume in that area.
If you're planning a trip to Seoul, count those 6 months from the date your filler was dissolved. If you'd like to work on skin quality in the meantime, ask us about skin-layer Juvelook.
How to tell us your filler history
06Please tell us in your request through our booking form, before you book:
- Where: which areas (for example, under-eye, tear trough, cheeks, temples, smile lines)
- When: roughly which year, and how many times
- What: the product name, if you know it
- Dissolved? whether any filler was dissolved, and when
- Reactions: any swelling, lumps or other problems after filler
Your dermatologist checks the area again at consultation, by palpation or ultrasound, and explains which option fits you. If a firm lump ever appears after treatment, see Juvelook lumps and nodules.
Frequently asked questions
